The Department of Research DIREP was created to promote research and doctoral studies at the University of Toulon.
The office assists researchers in the development and financing of their research projects and post-graduate students with administrative procedures.
The Department of Research DIREP fulfils 3 main missions.
The Office of Research Administration and Management is in charge of the financial and administrative management of the department as well as the University’s joint research events (Journées scientifiques, Doctoriades, etc.) The office also provides support services for the Research Advisory Board and Academic Board as well as promoting research by drafting and following up on the university’s strategic plan and research indicators.
The office serves as a liaison between the University’s researchers and institutional partners (Pôles de compétitivité, Incubateur PACA EST, Toulon Var Technologies, la Société d’accélération du transfert de technologies Sud Est, etc.), as well as between the university and economic and industrial partners. It’s also responsible for promoting and tendering internal, regional, national, and European bids.
The office also assists in the promotion of research units and supports researchers in negotiating and following up with research and service related contracts. It participates in detecting the potential benefits of research, managing patents, and creating innovative companies. The SeVar also provides assistance to Research Units in budgeting their research projects and contracts.
The office supports the College of Doctoral Studies and the University’s two accredited schools : Doctoral School 509 “Comparative Euro-Mediterranean Civilisations and Society” and the Doctoral School 548 “Sea and Sciences.”. The Office of Doctoral Studies provides training support to post graduate students and manages the administrative aspect of authorizations required to direct theses.
