A university committed to the ecological transition

The University of Toulon has placed sustainable development at the heart of its strategy. As such, it has been awarded the Prix d’Excellence de la Planification Ecologique 2024 by the Région Sud for its “Eco-Campus” project.

The IUT’s ‘E’ building illustrates this commitment:

  • Water retention basin to promote irrigation and drain the soil,
  • Energy optimisation through intelligent management of consumption and the use of energy-efficient equipment,
  • Preserving natural resources by using renewable energies with a photovoltaic roof,
  • Sustainable green spaces that promote biodiversity and protect pollinators.

These developments are part of the University of Toulon’s overall policy to reduce its ecological footprint and raise awareness of environmental protection among its community.

At a total cost of €19 million, the project has been financed by :

  • As part of the 2015-2020 CPER:
    • State: €4 million, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region: €3.5 million, Var Department: €2.25 million,
